Alliston is located in the Southern Georgian Bay region of Ontario. In 1991, it became part of the town of New Tecumseth which also encompasses the former municipalities of Beeton, Tottenham and Tecumseth Township. Alliston is known as the Potato Capitol of Ontario. Every summer this is celebrated and recognized with the Alliston Potato Festival, which is kicked off with the Alliston Potato Festival Parade. The town is also known for a couple of famous citizens, Sir Frederick Banting who discovered insulin and Theodore Loblaw the founder of the popular grocery store chain. For those wanting to learn more about Sir Frederick Banting, they can visit his childhood home, The Banting Homestead. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the numerous recreational opportunities available at Earle Rowe Provincial Park, located just north of Alliston in the picturesque river valley of the Boyne River. Golfers should not miss a visit to Alliston's Nottawasaga Inn Golf Cub where an exciting round of golf awaits them on one of their scenic courses.Tourist Attractions
